This is a self-help book for women of all ages, from teens to the elderly, and also for an increasing number of men, about a subject which is rarely discussed in public.
+ Incontinence.
+ The inability to control your body’s waste.
+ Older women (and often men) forced to wear pads inside their underwear in order to stay  dry in public.
+ Unwelcome and untimely peeing and pooping.

DR. PATRICIA SKILLING

Dr. Patricia M. Skilling is a graduate of the University of St Andrews in Scotland, the oldest in the country, and one of the most famous in the world. She went on to train with Professor Petros as a Pelvic Floor Physician and was Head of Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation in the Kvinno Centre Perth, Western Australia. She developed an entirely new system of pelvic floor rehabilitation based on the Integral System. This method is unique in that it trains the 3 muscles which naturally control the bladder and bowel and overcomes the problems which women experienced when learning and practicing the *Kegel method. Dr. Skilling’s revolutionary exercises are especially useful for ‘time poor’ women, as they are easily incorporated in natural body stances and sitting postures. They’ve been described as ‘exercises when you’re not exercising.’ The uniqueness of this method lies in its ability to improve several conditions such as bladder and bowel incontinence, nocturia, chronic pelvic pain and constipation. These symptoms cannot be cured by the classic Kegel method which most therapists use. She has published several papers on her work and given talks at scientific meetings.

Dr. Skilling is a passionate advocate for women’s health, and is dedicated to ending the conspiracy of silence, and is open to sharing treatments for incontinence, a potentially curable condition which continues to affect the lives of a billion women throughout the world.

*Kegel exercises are mainly taught by physiotherapists. Kegel exercises strengthen the voluntary ‘squeezing’ muscle, not the 3 automatic muscles which control the bladder and bowel.

Testimonials

Incontinent? I was. Six or seven times a day, if I was lucky enough to make it to the bathroom in time. I always had a change of underwear in my handbag. Until I read that exercises…not Kegel which I’ve been doing since my daughter was born because they exercised the wrong muscles…what I learned was the key to stopping peeing uncontrollably. This incredible book changed my life. No pills, No equipment…just exercises. The book says it’s because my muscles and ligaments ‘down there’ weren’t working like they did. So now they are, and I go when I want to.

Talk about life changing. Our social life was… well there wasn’t one because my wife was too embarrassed to leave the house in case she couldn’t find a toilet. And all it took was advice from this little book to figure out what the problem and the solution was that she needed. No Doctor she saw helped her, they suggested expensive pathology texts. They happily took our money and her time  results told us what we already knew, but no cure. She spent a fortune on psychiatrists, who told her that she was doing it through anxiety or insecurity. This book said do exercises. That’s It.  Now she’s cured.Thank you, Dr. Skilling. You’re a life saver.

I was active, sporty, and lived a full life until menopause. I have four children and seven grandchildren and they’re my life since my husband passed. The family drove long distances to come and see me on the farm. I couldn’t travel to them anymore because I’d arrive having wet myself. It was embarrassing. It was my daughter who sent me Skilling’s book. My life has changed. I realized I was not alone and I’d recommend this book to those who have had children and even to those who don’t have incontinence. While you may think this may never happen to you, you are better off knowing what you can do to prevent it. What they recommend is easy.

I didn’t know much about incontinence until my mom got it. I thought it was just an old age thing. I just happened to come across ‘Home and Dry’ and learnt a lot about our bodies and how incontinence occurs, about cures and steps to prevent it. Such an interesting read and I thank you for sharing a topic not many of us know about and hopefully will never experience if we put into place your exercises.
